Synopsis For The Middle Texas Coastal Waters
A vigrous upper level trough will provide scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across the region on Sunday. An area of low pressure originating in the Bay of Campeche will merge with Tropical Storm Ida over the central Gulf of Mexico on Monday. This will provide and increasing northeast flow on Sunday...turning more northerly Sunday night. Ida is expected to remain over the northeast Gulf of Mexico region through the middle of next week. Due to the gradient between low pressure over the far Gulf waters and high pressure moving down from the plains...the offshore flow will remain moderate to strong through the middle of next week. Large swells will also persist through midweek due to the complex low pressure system over the central and northern Gulf. A gradual decline of the swells and winds is expected by Wednesday night into Thursday as the core of the high pressure area finally shifts into the middle Texas coastal waters.
