the North Nashua River at Fitchburg.
* Until Tuesday afternoon... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 10:15 am Monday the stage was 7.9 feet.
* Record flooding is occurring and record flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6.5 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 8.1 feet by this
afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage tomorrow morning.
* Impact... at 9.0 feet... flooding occurs in low lying areas along
the river. Businesses near the Junction of river and depot streets
in Fitchburg are impacted. Flood waters also approach low Railroad
bridges in downtown Fitchburg.

* At 10:47 am Monday the stage was 10.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Assabet River at Maynard.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 10:30 am Monday the stage was 6.9 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 5.0 feet.
* Impact... at 7.0 feet... significant flooding will affect interests
along the river in Maynard... Concord and Hudson. Roadwaysmay
become impassable due to flood waters and some properties may need
to be evacuated. Follow the directions of local emergency
management officials.

... Flood Warning extended until Wednesday afternoon... the Flood
Warning continues for
the Blackstone River at Woonsocket.
* Until Wednesday afternoon... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 10:30 am Monday the stage was 10.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 11.0 feet by
this evening. The river will fall below flood stage late Wednesday
morning.
* Impact... at 11.0 feet... flooding spreads across most of the lower
parking area of the Albion mill apartments. Flooding is also
expected to overspread lowest lying sections of Lonsdale in
Cumberland.

... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 230 PM EDT Monday for
urban areas and small streams in eastern Windham County in northern
Connecticut... and Worcester County in central Massachusetts... and
Middlesex... Suffolk... Norfolk and Essex counties in eastern
Massachusetts... and Bristol and Plymouth counties in southeast
Massachusetts... and Kent... Providence... Washington... Newport and
Bristol counties in Rhode Island...

... Dangerous flooding to take place in eastern Massachusetts...

At 719 am EDT widespread flooding of streams was occurring across
central and eastern Massachusetts and much of Rhode Island. Across
eastern Massachusetts moderate to major flooding was taking place or
is threatening to take place along many small streams. This is a
dangerous situaton.

A swath of heavy rain will fall across the greater Boston
area... including adjacent Middlesex County through 9 am and
exacerbate flooding even more in that area. The aberjona river was
already in major flooding at Winchester... and it will continue to
rise sharply with the new rainfall burst... creating a potentially
dangerous situation there. Another problem spot is the Muddy river.
Although the Muddy river dropped a little below flood stage early
this morning... the new rainfall will bring it sharply back above
flood stage by 8 or 830 am.

Streams and rivers across much of eastern Massachusetts will
continue to rise as moderate to heavy rain persist through at least
mid morning. Moderate to major flooding is expected across many
small streams in eastern Massachusetts this morning into at least
early afternoon. Numerous roadways are expected to be
impacted... some possibly at risk for washing out. This is a very
serious situaton and calls for extreme caution.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
With streams already so high... additional rises may occur very
rapidly. At all costs... do not attempt to drive across flooded
roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway... including underpasses. The water may be too deep to allow
vehicles to cross safely... or the roadway may be undermined.

... Record daily maximum rainfall set at Worcester MA March 14 2010...

A record rainfall of 1.75 inches was set at Worcester MA Sunday
March 14th 2010. This breaks the old record of 1.39 set in 1986.

Records date back 1892.

The following are unofficial observations taken during the past 50
hours for the powerful long duration storm that has been affecting
our region.

The river information that follows does not have the period of
record available. However... the information confirms that portions
of neighborhoods on several smaller rivers and streams are
experiencing a high impact event that is going to take a substantial
period of recovery.

Record daily rainfall this past weekend... occurring within 3 weeks
after the late February two storm... 2-5 inch event... has resulted in
a flood of record on the Pawtuxet at Cranston Rhode Island this
morning.

The Cranston 14.7 foot stage at 9am exceeded flood stage by nearly 6
feet. This still rising stage also exceeded the previous flood of
record by 0.2 feet. That prior record crest was 14.5 feet set on
June 7th 1982.

The shawsheen at Wilmington Massachusetts was already at its second
highest stage of 10 feet. The record stage is 10.49 feet on October
22 1996.

The aberjona river at Winchester Massachusetts was at its 3rd
highest stage on record.

Other small streams in eastern Massachusetts are moving into the top
5 event bracket.

We have discarded the periphery 2 inch amounts received prior to 8am
yesterday due to the concentration of near record amounts in two
swaths. One five inch swath 15 miles either side the RI..CT border
and the far more dangerous amounts of 6 to 8 inches in the eastern
quarter of Massachusetts with a focus on Essex and Middlesex
counties in northeast Massachusetts!
