... Cold and wet weather is expected today through Thursday
night...
An area of low pressure will gradually develop across the
western Gulf of Mexico Wednesday afternoon and deepen through
Thursday... as an upper level storm system approaches Texas. The
surface low will then track northeastward Thursday night and
Friday towards the central Gulf of Mexico. As a result... rain will
develop across south Texas during today over the Rio Grande plains
and brush country this morning... then spread eastward during the
afternoon and evening. Rain is expected area-wide by late tonight.
Rain will begin end on Thursday night as the low pressure system
pulls away. Total rainfall amounts through Thursday night are
expected to average around one half inch near the Laredo area to a
little more than one and one half inches over the northern coastal
counties.
The rain may mix with sleet or even briefly change over to sleet
at times during the day today... mainly to the north of a Laredo to
Freer to Pettus line. No accumulations are expected at this time.
The chance for a wintry mix of precipitation will end by Wednesday
evening across this area as warmer air pushes in from the south.
A chilly high pressure system anchored across south Texas will
maintain cold temperatures through Thursday. Overnight lows
through Thursday morning will be mostly in the 30s each night.
Daytime highs on Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly in the 40s.
