Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 7:55 PM CST Feb. 24, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect until midnight CST tonight...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of north central Arkansas, including the following
areas, Fulton, Izard, sharp, stone, and Van Buren.

* Until midnight CST tonight

* heavy rain fell across much of Arkansas the last several days,
with 4 to locally more than 8 inches observed. Most of the
rainfall has ended across the area. However, additional runoff
this evening will continue to produce flash flooding over the
next several hours.

* Given the recent heavy rainfall, the ground has become
saturated. As a result, the runoff potential has increased,
resulting in a high threat for flash and river flooding
through this evening. There have already been numerous high
water reports, including flooding of roads and Road closures.
Any more heavy rainfall may create additional dangerous
flooding situations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
