Flood Warning
Issued: 9:18 AM EST Dec. 13, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Alapaha river at Statenville.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9:00 am Thursday the stage was 102.8 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 100.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 103.1 feet by
Sunday evening then begin falling.
* Impact... at 103.0 feet... homes along the river in Statenville and
griner Road become inundated.
* Impact... at 100.0 feet... the boat ramp near the gauge and adjacent
parking lot are flooded.
* Impact... at 92.0 feet... griner Road in Mayday begins to flood. This
isolates 10 homes in the area. Flooding along the Road subsides 2
to 3 days after the river crests in Statenville or when the River
Falls below 96 feet.

night...

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of Florida and southeast Georgia,
including the following areas, in Florida, Alachua, Baker,
Bradford, Clay, coastal Duval, coastal Nassau, Columbia,
Gilchrist, Hamilton, inland Duval, inland Nassau, Suwannee,
and Union. In southeast Georgia, Appling, Atkinson, Bacon,
Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, coastal Camden, coastal Glynn,
Coffee, Echols, inland Camden, inland Glynn, Jeff Davis,
Pierce, Ware, and Wayne.

* From late tonight through late Friday night

* widespread rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is expected late tonight
through Friday night with localized amounts of 3 to 4 inches
possible. Flooding is possible with some of the heavier amounts
given that soils are primed for runoff due to recent heavy
rainfall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
