Flood Warning
Issued: 9:27 PM EST Feb. 23, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Eel River at Bowling Green.
* From Saturday evening to Monday evening.
* At 8:30 PM Friday the stage was 8.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tomorrow late evening and
continue to rise to near 18.2 feet by Sunday morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by Monday morning.
* At 18.0 feet... typical high water after heavy rains. This causes
extensive flooding of bottomlands and floods many County roads.
Persons living in river Cabins are inconvenienced. Campers must
move from low ground. Poland-Bowling Green Road is impassable.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Indiana, east central Indiana, south
central Indiana, southeast Indiana, southwest Indiana, and
west central Indiana, including the following areas, in
central Indiana, Bartholomew, Decatur, Hancock, Hendricks,
Johnson, Marion, Morgan, rush, and Shelby. In east central
Indiana, Henry. In south central Indiana, Brown, Jackson,
Lawrence, and Monroe. In southeast Indiana, Jennings. In
southwest Indiana, Daviess, Greene, Knox, Martin, and
Sullivan. In west central Indiana, Clay, Owen, Putnam, and
Vigo.

* Through Sunday morning

* additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected through Sunday
morning, in areas that have already received significant
rainfall over the past few days. This will likely worsen
flooding on area waterways and lead to flooding of other
streams, low lying areas, and poor drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
