The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Grand River near Comstock Park.
* From late Thursday night until further notice.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast, rise above flood stage by Friday morning and continue
to rise to near 12.4 feet by Saturday morning.
* Impact, at 12.0 feet... expect minor flooding of homes along
abrigador trail.
* Flood history, this crest compares to a previous crest of 12.4 feet
on Feb 19 1976.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of central Michigan, south central
Michigan, southwest Michigan, and west central Michigan,
including the following areas, in central Michigan, Clare,
Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta, Montcalm, and Osceola. In south
central Michigan, Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, and
Jackson. In southwest Michigan, Allegan, Barry, Kalamazoo,
Kent, Ottawa, and Van Buren. In west central Michigan, Lake,
Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana.

* From Monday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon

* 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected from Monday through Wednesday
morning. Locally higher amounts are likely.

* The rainfall, combined with a melting snowpack and a frozen
ground could cause flooding across the area.

* Mainstem rivers and streams are already high, and will be rising
more and could begin to flood areas around them. Ice jams
resulting from the breakup of ice currently on the rivers will
also be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

* Until Sunday February 25.
* At 12 PM Sunday the stage was 4.5 feet.
* Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Forecast, the river will rise to near 8.7 feet by Thursday morning.
* Impact, at 8.0 feet... river is bankfull. Expect overflow into low
lying areas along the river.

* Until further notice.
* At 12 PM Sunday the stage was 8.2 feet.
* Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast, the river will rise to near 15.6 feet by Saturday
evening.
* Impact, at 15.0 feet... expect minor flooding to occur in low lying
areas upstream and downstream of Grand Rapids, especially in the
areas of North Park, Comstock Park, and Robinson township. Some
seepage into basements of businesses in Grand Rapids occurs.
