Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 4:54 AM MST Feb. 18, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this
afternoon...

* what... snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 6
inches, including over Lolo Pass and Lost Trail Pass. Gusty
north and east winds cause blowing and drifting snow and poor
visibility. Bitterly cold temperatures and wind will keep roads
icy or snow packed.

* Where... Bitterroot/Sapphire Mountains.

* When... for the Winter Storm Warning, this morning to 5 PM MST
this afternoon.

* Additional details... plan on difficult travel conditions. In
addition, areas of poor visibility are likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow means severe
winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or
impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest

Missoula Mt has issued a backcountry avalanche warning...

* timing... in effect until 6 am MST Monday.

* Affected area... the southern missions, southern Swan,
rattlesnake, and Bitterroot ranges.

* Avalanche danger... the avalanche danger for the warning area is
high today.

* Reason/impacts... recent heavy snow combined with strong wind
will result in widespread avalanche activity.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Very dangerous avalanche conditions exist. Large avalanches will
be possible in many areas. Travel in avalanche terrain is not
recommended.
