Issued: 5:30 PM MST Jan. 23, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am CST /5 am
MST/ Thursday...

* what... blowing and drifting snow expected. Total snow
accumulations of less than one inch expected. Winds gusting as
high as 50 mph. Dangerous wind chills late tonight.

* Where... portions of south central and southeast North Dakota.

* When... until 6 am CST Thursday.

* Additional details... plan on slippery Road conditions.
Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero could
cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads
and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

... Drifting snow will cause icy roads in parts of southwest and
south central North Dakota tonight through Thursday...

Gusty winds will continue to cause drifting snow that will melt
and quickly refreeze on area roads this evening, leading to icy
conditions. Black ice may be difficult to see. This includes
portions of Interstate 94 between Dickinson and Jamestown, and
Highway 83 between Washburn and the South Dakota state line south
of Linton.

The North Dakota Highway patrol advises against using cruise
control during icy conditions.
