Issued: 5:30 PM MST Jan. 23, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from midnight CST /11 PM
MST/ tonight to noon CST /11 am MST/ Thursday...

* what... very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as
near 40 below zero expected. Gusty northerly winds to 40 mph
with patchy blowing and drifting snow.

* Where... most of western North Dakota.

* When... from midnight CST /11 PM MST/ tonight to noon CST /11
am MST/ Thursday.

* Additional details... the dangerously cold wind chills could
cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.

... Drifting snow will cause icy roads in parts of southwest and
south central North Dakota tonight through Thursday...

Gusty winds will continue to cause drifting snow that will melt
and quickly refreeze on area roads this evening, leading to icy
conditions. Black ice may be difficult to see. This includes
portions of Interstate 94 between Dickinson and Jamestown, and
Highway 83 between Washburn and the South Dakota state line south
of Linton.

The North Dakota Highway patrol advises against using cruise
control during icy conditions.
