Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 11:47 PM EDT Aug. 21, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* flood advisory for...
central Morris County in northern New Jersey...
Hunterdon County in northwestern New Jersey...
Warren County in northwestern New Jersey...
northwestern Somerset County in northern New Jersey...
northeastern Northampton County in eastern Pennsylvania...

* until 345 am EDT.

* At 1145 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain which will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to two-thirds of an inch of rain has already fallen. An
additional one inch of rainfall is possible across the area as
heavier showers move into the region overnight.

* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Morristown, Bridgewater, Dover, Hackettstown, Wharton, Washington,
Rockaway, Blairstown, Morris Plains, Bangor, Mendham, Flemington,
Mountain Lakes, High Bridge, Stanhope, Pen Argyl, Netcong, Wind
Gap, Clinton and Belvidere.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.
