Areal Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for...
southeastern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...
west central Quay County in east central New Mexico...
northeastern Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico...

* until 800 PM MDT.

* At 602 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Arroyo and small stream flooding in
the advisory area to include Cuervo creek. Between one and one and
a half inches of rain has already fallen. Minor flooding is
possible along Highway 104.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Conchas, Variadero, Conchas Lake State Park and Montoya.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember, ditches are deadly. A gentle flow of water can become a
raging torrent in a matter of minutes.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

northwestern Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico...

* until 700 PM MDT.

* At 455 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms near Anton Chico. Up to one and a half inches of
rain has already fallen. This will cause Arroyo and small stream
flooding in the advisory area and the Pecos River may see a quick
rise as well. Ponding of water can be expected on highways 386,
119, and 451.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Dilia, Anton Chico and Tecolotito.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Keep children and pets away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and
streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
