Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:59 PM EST Jan. 23, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 am EST

* what... mixed precipitation expected. Any additional snow
accumulations will be an inch or less as snow becomes mixed with
and changes over to sleet and freezing rain this evening and
tonight. Ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch are
expected by later tonight, with the highest accumulations east
of the Green Mountains in Vermont.

* Where... northern New York and all of Vermont.

* When... snow across northern New York will change to sleet and
freezing rain as the night wears on before changing to rain by
midnight. The mixed precipitation will impact the evening
commute over northern New York with snow covered or slippery
Road conditions. Precipitation will increase in areal coverage
across Vermont tonight. The precipitation will be in the form of
snow initially but quickly mix with or change to light sleet
and freezing rain. This will lead to slippery travel conditions
later tonight. The precipitation eventually changes to rain by
midnight across all of northern New York and Vermont. Cold
pavement temperatures exist as readings will be below freezing
for the first half of the night. As a result the rain will be
able to freeze on roadways, especially secondary and untreated
roads during the overnight hours. Pavement temperatures should
finally rise above freezing Thursday morning.

* Additional details... snow and mixed precipitation over northern
New York will impact travel conditions, especially during the
evening commute. In Vermont, the snow and mixed precipitation
will be light through this evening, but will pick up in
intensity tonight and create slippery travel conditions. Travel
could potentially be difficult during the overnight hours
across all of northern New York and Vermont when rain encounters
the cold pavement temperatures and creates icy Road conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Please allow extra time if travel is necessary.
