Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 7:36 PM EST Feb. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... A Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams remains in
effect until 830 PM EST for southeastern Meigs... Gallia...
southeastern Jackson... central Lawrence... northern Calhoun...
Ritchie... Mason... northwestern Gilmer... Wirt... northwestern Roane...
Jackson and southern wood counties...

While the heavy rain threat has ended, continued runoff will result
in lingering high water near creeks and streams. Local law
enforcement report some roads closures remain across the warned
area. In addition, the larger creeks will experience strong rises,
that may result in bankfull being exceeded this evening.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Point Pleasant, Gallipolis, Ripley, Harrisville, Pomeroy, Oak Hill,
Rio Grande, Elizabeth, Racine, Grantsville, Forked Run State Park,
Ravenswood, New Haven, Mason, Sandyville, Mineralwells, North Bend
State Park, Gallia, Waterloo and Middleport.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Please report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling
toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

You may also report flooding by posting your report to the Charleston
