Flood Warning
Issued: 4:16 AM EST Jan. 24, 2019 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for the Congaree River at Carolina Eastman.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 4 am this morning the stage was 113.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 115 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river at Carolina Eastman will crest near 119.7 feet
Saturday or Sunday.
* At 119 feet... extensive flooding occurs in the Congaree National
Park. Some area farmland is flooded. Minor flooding occurs at the
Carolina Eastman facility.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Congaree River at Congaree National Park-Gadsden.
* Until further notice, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 11 am Tuesday the stage was 16.3 feet and rising slowly.
* Minor flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: the river will continue rising to near 16.7 feet
Wednesday morning then begin falling. The river will recede to
around 15.8 feet by Friday morning, then rise gradually to 17.1
feet by Sunday morning.
* Impacts: at 17.0 feet: the access Road to the Sandy Run subdivision
becomes flooded. The lower boardwalk in the Congaree National Park
becomes flooded by Cedar Creek.
* At 15.0 feet: flooding begins in the Congaree National Park.

... Lake Wind Advisory now in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon...

* winds... southwest becoming west this morning at 15 to 20 knots
with gusts around 25 knots.

* Timing... today.

* Impacts... strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will
create hazardous conditions for small craft.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
