Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 5:19 AM CST Feb. 21, 2019 – National Weather Service

The flood advisory continues for
the Red River at Port Royal
* until Friday morning.
* At 4am Thursday the stage was 29.0 feet.
* Action stage is 25.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
* The river has crested and will fall to near 25.0 feet by this evening.
* At 30.0 feet... low lying agricultural areas along the Red River from the
Kentucky state line to Adams, past Port Royal State Park, and on the Sulpher
Fork from near Springfield to near Cedar Hill, to Port Royal State Park begin
to flood.
* At 17.0 feet... the public access parking lot at Port Royal State Park is
completely inundated.

night...

The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of middle Tennessee, including
the following areas, Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Clay, Coffee,
Cumberland, Davidson, De Kalb, Dickson, Fentress, Giles,
Grundy, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Jackson, Lawrence, Lewis,
Macon, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Overton, Perry, Pickett,
Putnam, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Stewart, Sumner,
Trousdale, Van Buren, Warren, Wayne, white, Williamson, and
Wilson.

* From late tonight through Saturday night

* an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts
is expected in the watch area.

* Street flooding will be a hazard for travelers. Low-lying and
poor drainage areas will be at risk for flash flooding, as
well as creeks and streams.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
