Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 8:21 PM EST Feb. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Charleston West Virginia has extended
the

* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in...
central Washington County in southeastern Ohio...
Pleasants County in northwestern West Virginia...
northern Ritchie County in northwestern West Virginia...
Doddridge County in northern West Virginia...
west central Taylor County in northern West Virginia...
north central Gilmer County in north central West Virginia...
northwestern Lewis County in northern West Virginia...
Tyler County in northern West Virginia...
northeastern Wood County in northwestern West Virginia...
Harrison County in northern West Virginia...

* until 545 am EST Thursday.

* While the heavy rain threat has ended, continued runoff will
result in lingering high water near creeks and streams. Local law
enforcement report some roads closures remain across the warned
area. In addition, the larger creeks will experience strong rises,
that may result in bankfull being exceeded overnight.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Marietta, St. Marys, Vienna, Paden City, Shinnston, Stonewood,
Nutter Fort, Salem, Belmont, West Union, and Enterprise.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Please report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling
toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

You may also report flooding by posting your report to the Charleston
West Virginia National Weather Service facebook Page, or by using the
twitter hashtag, nwsrlx.
